Heartwork workshops and retreats gently allow participants to acknowledge the pain, suffering and joy that are part of life, to discover individual gifts and purpose, and to experience being part of a community.

Participants in Heartwork Retreats leave feeling rested, energized, empowered and connected to others.

In Heartwork Retreats and Workshops, you will discover the wisdom and goodness in yourself and others through deep listening. All Heartwork retreats include silence, movement, time with nature, inspirational handouts and guided listening experiences.

Heartwork Retreats are supported by a team of volunteers who are dedicated to honest sharing, creative expression and delicious, organic food preparation.

Heartwork groups, workshops and retreats draw on Trudy James’ vast experience in facilitating groups and in supporting non-profit and faith-based staff and volunteers. Her methods, attitudes, and expertise enable participants to quickly learn the value of reciprocal sharing, listening well and being heard by others.

Taking a time out or spending “Sabbath time” in a hermitage house, retreat center, or in my own home--alone or with others—has long been my regular practice.  Time without phones, deadlines, meetings; time for rest, silence, reflection, poetry, humor, clarity, seems ever more essential in these times of change, stress and daily crisis. I will be offering a variety of retreat opportunities and listing them on these pages.

Please join me on retreat. - Trudy
